2007 County Line Youth Soccer Tournament

We expect that this will once again be a great experience for the players, coaches, and their families. Each team will have two games on Saturday. Semifinals and championship games will be held on Sunday. We are keeping the four goal mercy rule from past years. Coaches and teams should be ready to begin all games at the scheduled time and perform warm-up drill off the field as necessary.

1.          Check-In
Each team must check in with the field marshal at your playing site on the day of play at least thirty minutes before the scheduled start of your first match. After the first match, the teams must report to the field 15 minutes before the start of your second match. The field marshal must be notified of injured, ill, or absent players. Players will be checked in at this time by the field marshal.

2.       Dress Code
All players MUST wear shin guards. Sweat pants are allowed but they must be worn beneath the shorts. Solid color sweatshirts are permitted under the jersey; the color should compliment the uniform and not create confusion with the goalie or other team.

3.          Tournament Rules – Unless otherwise stated in these tournament rules, F.I.F.A. and C.Y.S.A. specific rules will apply.

a) Every player must play at least 50% of every match of the tournament. If the “mercy rule” ends the game at the half and a player has not been placed in the game, the player must start the following game and remain in for at least 50% of the first half and play at least 50% of the entire game. Failure to comply will result in a forfeit of game and ejection of the coach from the tournament.

b)          Yellow cards given to players will last for the duration of one match only. If a player receives a yellow card in the first game of the tournament, he/she plays under that yellow card until the end of that match and would then start the next match with a clean slate.

c)          Yellow cards for coaches will accumulate throughout the duration of the tournament. For example, if a coach receives a yellow card for any reason, and an additional yellow card in a different match of the tournament, the coach will be ejected from the tournament.

d)          Intentionally scoring “own goals” to lower your opponents tournament score will result in the disallowance of the goal and a red card for the player, and a red card for the coach.

e) Any player receiving a red card will sit out the remainder of the match in which he/she received the red card and also sit out the next match of the tournament.

f) Any coach receiving a red card will be automatically ejected from the tournament and not allowed to return for the duration of the tournament.

4.          Sportsmanship award
This is a recreational league soccer tournament. Good sportsmanship is expected from all participants, including players, coaches and spectators. Coaches are responsible for maintaining order of all persons associated with their team. The team in each division that accumulates the greatest amount of sportsmanship points will be awarded a plaque.

Points will only be accumulated during the Saturday games. However, teams may be removed from sportsmanship contention if a yellow or red card is issued against them in subsequent rounds.

Scoring is left to the discretion of the referees and will be kept secretly by the field marshals at the field marshal’s table. At the end of each match, the referee’s will award sportsmanship points to each of the teams as outlined below:
